Good Introduction to ILI Concepts

This book is probably one of the most useful textbooks that I have used so far as an LIS student. It is very readable and avoids a lot of the irritating jargon found in many similar books. The content is explained thoroughly and completely, and it provides a great overview of ILI. The content integrates enough of educational theory without going so far as to become overwhelming and relates instruction to the library.

Excellent curriculum!! Student friendly!

This vocabulary series has been one if the best I have come across in homeschooling. It is interactive, (there is internet access to the different levels for additional helps), and gives examples of how to use a word in a sentence. My boys have liked these books better than anything else we have tried, and we have tried many! We will continue to use these books. I highly recommend getting the teacher edition as a companion to the student book.

About the Author

Rebecca Donatelle is an Associate Professor in Public Health and is the Coordinator of the Public Health Promotion and Education Programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University. She has a Ph.D. in Community Health/Health Education, a Master of Science degree in Health Education, and a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in both Health/Physical Education and English. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist in behaviors and behavior change. She has received the Leadership Award, outstanding teacher award in her college, and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Presidential Award for Promising New Research in the Smoke-Free Families National Initiative.

Outdated Information

This goes for a lot of textbooks in the Health industry, but most of the information is about 10-20 years old, and has been proven either wrong, or just more information that changes the way of thinking. Great book for someone who knows nothing about health, but common sense and recent research renders much of the book outdated.

Good but could have been Great

The book gets 4 stars when it could have had 5. Why?

Well, there are far too many editions, revisions, etc available and it's a confusing landscape to navigate. I mean, yes, I can figure it out but I really shouldn't have to. There's no reason for this. Provide 1 low cost alternative, a mid-range paperback, and a kindle version. That's it. The digital packages are also not clear but whatever. That's enough of that.

Some people liked the illustrations. I found the layout a bit much. As though a graphic design student got a little ambitious and forgot about function. When trying to read all the information on the page, it starts to interfere with the flow of reading a chapter in sequence. It's a problem. I like design in fact, I love design but design should work WITH a concept and not against it. Too many times I found myself skipping over a shout out or inset so I could finish a chapter and then forgetting to go back and read something. That is not good. The design should be set up better so complete thoughts can end and allow students to also read the inlays/insets. It's highly fragmented.

Still, I'm not going to give it a low rating because the overall information was good and it wasn't poorly written (though there were certain chapters I took issue with).

Terrible to be force to read this in a class. All information on any topic in the book is widely available online. The organization is good, but if you want to learn about health there are other ways of going about it

Probably the most profound escape-the-hivemind treatise I've come across

I'm tempted to be lazy and do a summary review of all of the first three R.T. books, but I will focus on the first, which just pulled me in like nothing else, and convinced me I need to read the remainder of Vadim's books (the English versions of 4 and 5 are being released in November and I've pre-ordered those).

From what I remember of the first book, it's main purpose is convince you that everything that caused you want to act like a victim and react angrily, or worry-ily (yep that's a word now), or with fear, or driven by scarcity ... all these "reasons" to act in those limited, low-Consciousness ways, are based on pure Falsity and have no real significance. In this first book, you're introduced to a "life-form" (but not really a life-form exactly) called a pendulum. An example of a "pendulum" could be a company that wants to make you follow its rules and bend your life around it, and fear being separated from it. Really, a pendulum is anything that a group of people give its energy to, without really being aware that they are doing this.

Also discussed, are "life-tracks" (which is closely related to the sub-title of this book, Space of Variations), of which there are many, and whichever life track you end up on, is a result of the kinds of habitual emotional responses you have to normal everyday irritations and happenings.. if you treat annoyances as being real or having importance, and thus give that thing your angry or fearful energy, you will *not* end up on a lifetrack where a desired objective would materialize (I guess by lifetracks, this could be similar to parallel universes of which are spoken of, by many writers .. you choose which one by your beliefs and/or your emotion-based reactions)

In the previous paragraph, I mentioned "Importance". I'd say this might be one of the top 3 primary themes that he revisits and repeats through the 3 books (and I'm guessing I'll see it repeated in books 4 and 5). There's a reason behind such focus on this theme: It hold such a heavy weight on all of the factors that play into your living in a joy-filled 'life track'. If you hold too much importance on the fact that you don't have this or that, or too much importance on negative circumstances, this not only keeps you off the Life track you want, but as well, triggers the "Balancing" forces that this book also covers.

It's a given that you are into this genre of material, The Reality Transurfing series is one that you will read and re-read.

AMAZING!!

OK, I am Russian, and I came across these books in Moscow last summer...and swallowed them...all 5 of them... and when I came back to the US, I could not stop talking about them, but unfortunately, the translated version was not available yet..and voila! they came out! These books will make you question your reality, and look at it from a different perspective. It can be life changing, or life altering, or just shattering your reality kind of "reads"...the author uses very simple language, and brings what seem like complex philosophical points down to the earth level by bringing examples, and making the reader look into/at his/her own life for examples. His style of writing, aside from other authors who write about reality, etc, is "nenavyazchivi", as we say in Russian, or not-overbearing. He does not care whether you subscribe or not to his point of view, and constantly challenges the reader to go out there and test it! Test it, and you will see..or not?!? These books turned my world upside down, and then brought it down to a very manageable place. Would highly recommend Vadim Zeland's book to those, interested in digging a bit deeper, and challenging one's view on life.

A great read for this genre

This is another book about quantum realities manifesting in the material world. What makes this book special is the fact that the author is Russian who wrote the book in the Russian language, which has been translated into English. One might think, "So what?"

Consider the topic, that of the observer as creator. Couple this concept with an author whose illustrations are not limited to our American cultural barriers, trends, or concepts, and who is widely read and expressive in his own language.

What you end up with is a book that presents familiar concepts from widely different angles. This was extremely fascinating for me, to get a look at Quantum theories from the point of view of a culture with which I'm not the least familiar.

I wound up taking my time, wondering why the author chose "that" phrase, or "this" illustration, because it didn't automatically work for my understanding.

His chief concept is a Pendulum, an energy institution whose function is self-preservation at the expense of its adherents. Sometimes Pendulums are designed and created by Man (like religious Dogma or advertising slogans), and other times they develop out of cultural convenience or stigma (like email or Facebook trending). His chief aim is calling our attention to how we may be blindly giving our energies and resources to pendulums that may no longer (or have never) served our personal purposes or beliefs, and how we can choose to stop their restrictive (nay, strangulating) effects on our minds, hearts, and wills.

The book is, I feel, repetitive, but as it is a translation whose illustrations do not always work for our idiomatic collection of wise sayings, all his words bear importance and are worth taking time over.

This is one of th most cerebral books ever written about the deterministic/ sovereign debate I've ever read. It was also exactly what I needed to read.

Coma Girl Wakes Up

Stephanie Bond has written a very good serialized novel titled Coma Girl. Parts One through Five were posted as daily serialized installments on her website (and other places) free for anyone to read. Starting on July 1st, 2016, a post was delivered to the website which was visible for 24 hours. Successive posts replaced each other, one by one. Readers could purchase the month-long edition from Amazon, or read it free at Kindle Unlimited (KU) following a schedule determined by Stephanie Bond. I found this to be a great way to encourage reluctant readers. The secrets revealed by Coma Girl that she overheard from her visitors were surprising, sometimes shocking, and captured reader interest. I pre-ordered this installment (Part Six), received it on 02 December, and looked forward to seeing how Bond would wrap up the series as December 31st was planned to be the final installment.

Part six did not disappoint. There weren’t the surprises of the first five parts. Reader expectation was that all the mysteries would be resolved in some way. That happened. It was satisfactory. But the surprises couldn’t deliver the punch of the first five parts. It is as if Stephanie Bond had painted herself into a corner. She needed to bring everything together and she did. But the six parts of the novel ended with a whimper rather than some triumphant shout.

At the end of November, Coma Girl woke up. It wasn’t a complete 100% fully capable woman that woke up. Dormant muscles had to be reminded of their functions. She had to relearn how to talk. The central theme of part six is how Marigold would deal with all her visitors. Both her mom and dad had revealed huge secrets during their visits to Marigold. Each thought they were talking to themselves, a form of confession. They hadn’t realized Coma Girl could hear everything perfectly. Each of her visitors will try to determine how much Marigold had heard or remembered of what they had said. This is the dominant theme and story of part six. Each supporting character will ask the same question as it relates to their personal revelations.

Duncan may be the most important character as far as Marigold is concerned. He has abandoned an earlier fiancé, acknowledged that he is the father of Marigold’s baby and declared his readiness to marry her. But it is not that simple and Marigold still has questions.

After Marigold id released from the hospital, there will be substantial medical bills. How can she pay them? Sydney, Marigold’s sister, is not available for help as she is in a hospital herself. Previously collected money from social media site publicity has disappeared

All previous problems characters had, those noted in reviews for the first five parts, must be solved. The fact that they will be solved is not a spoiler. There are surprises in the ways some of them are solved. Many readers will be happy that there are no further cliffhangers. I was unhappy to see the series end. The good thing is that a writer with this much talent will produce more interesting work. I will be waiting to read it.

A Touching Ending to a Captivating Series!

Coma Girl 6 was a sentimental and uplifting ending to a unique and captivating Series. I'm so glad that the author didn't drag the story out any longer despite the fact that I would have liked a few more details regarding how things turned out for many of the characters especially Detective Jack but, oh well, which is why it wasn't quite a 5 star read for me.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT:
I understand why Merigold made the choices she did about what she heard. Her decisions demonstrated growth, empathy and a admirable depth of character. In the big scheme of life, what purpose would have been served for her to have done differently.

I had guessed the identity of Coma Girl's poet volunteer from the very beginning but it was still a sweet twist. Overall, it was an engrossing ending to a Series that I have enjoyed very much. Life is Truly Awesome! We should really spend more time counting our blessings and being more thankful.

Great Finish to the Serial

Loved everyone of the books in the series. As always I am thrilled with the twist and turns she takes you on. I am going to re read the whole series which is not something I normally do but I enjoyed this so much. Her characters come to life and you feel part of the whole experience. It is very different from any other book I have read. It left me wanting more. I hope she will do another serial. She writes extremely well and you will enjoy the ride she takes you on.

The ability to move from theory to application and make threshold concepts a problem solving tool for natural resource management remains a daunting challenge.
